Day of Photonics

Did you know that the October 21th is celebrated worldwide as a DAY OF PHOTONICS which commemorates the date when the General Conference of Weights and Measures adopted the value of 299,792.458 km/s for the speed of light in 1983? Different activities and discussions are organized around the world by companies, research organizations, and institutions involved in photonics to raise awareness about photonics, and its importance and impact on our day-to-day life. Look for photonics events in your area, and if you happen to be in Finland, stop by VTT’s facilities in either Oulu or Espoo and explore optics, optoelectronics and photonics.
